The 100th Episode Extravaganza!

In this week's milestone Ep, Paul and Wayne have put together a special celebration of everything that makes The Countdown what it is. Namely, lists, disagreements, cursing one another out, and most essentially, big laughs. In other words, they've put together a list of the Top 10 Countdown Controversies over the first 99 Eps.

This one therefore becomes a trip down memory lane as the guys replay a clip from the controversy in question and then check in as to whether one or the other is willing to change their viewpoint. This goes about as well as you might expect until a couple of late surprising developments that should please old school fans of the show.

The Ep is also remarkable for the incredible submissions we received from some amazing podcasters who also listen to the show. The boys asked for a roasting and a roasting they received! So please thank and give a listen to Mike Jolitz at the Mike Jolitz podcast, Dan Vadeboncoeur of the Media Nerds & Star Wards Nerds podcasts, Nick and Justin from the Epic Film Guys podcast, Justin from So I Married a Movie Geek podcast, Wesley from the Via VHS Podcast, Dylan from the Welcome to Planet Bob podcast, Chris from the More Gooder Than Podcast, Deana from the TwistedPhilly Podcast, Joe from the Quote Unquote Guilty Podcast, Dave from the Super Movie Brothers Podcast, and Shane from the Now That I'm Older Podcast. Oh and not to forget regular guest host Alejandro getting his two cents in. Whew!

And finally, the Cool for Cast segment makes a return, as the boys recast Quentin Tarantino's classic, Pulp Fiction (1994).

Episode 99: Top 10 Matt Damon Films / The Great Wall

For Episode 99, the guys go a little crazy for Matt Damon on the back of his new release (and the most expensive film ever made in China), The Great Wall. And it is just a "little" crazy, because Paul is channeling #Negatron during his review, while even Wayne acknowledges the worst of Matt Damon's best is not really all that great.

Then the boys are putting what reputations they have on the line as they make their predictions in seven categories for this year's Oscars, with the winner to add injury to insult by picking a show topic the other has to do sometime later in the year ...

There's also the usual banter, obscenities, bloopers and the overdue return of Check It Out, as the guys discuss the DCEU and the upcoming release of #Logan. And stick around to the end to find out how YOU can feature on the show's 100th Ep!

Episode 98: Top 10 Long Ass Films (w/ The Boxers Podcast)

This week Paul and Wayne invite Marcos and Wes from The Boxers Podcast to assist them in a HUGE countdown of the best long films ever made! The Boxers fit right in with mocking Wayne for many of his choices, while all get behind how awesome Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese and John Williams are. And rest assured, there are plenty of laughs had as this one winds down to one of the most questionable number one choices in The Countdown history - and it's not made by Wayne! *gasp* *shock* *horror*

In this special bonus episode of the Countdown, Paul sits down for a short but candid chat with writer-director, Richard Bates Jr, whose newest film Trash Fire has just hit Netflix and is shortly to be released on Blu-ray and DVD in Australia.

Richard talks about whether Trash Fire can be categorised, opens up about how much of the film reflects him personally, and discusses how he has grown as a film-maker through Excision (2012), Suburban Gothic (2014) and now with Trash Fire.

Support Richard by following him on Twitter @RichardBatesJr1 and buying Trash Fire to help his next project (which he briefly discusses) get a greenlight!

Episode 97: Top 10 Last 10

Wayne and Paul this week return with a show favourite format - the Top 10 Last 10 (with thanks to James and Zach of http://cinereelists.com/). This is where the boys each provide mini-reviews of the last 10 films they've seen, hoping to steer you clear of the worst, while highly recommending the best. Of course, it wouldn't be an Ep of The Countdown without some degree of niggling, and Wayne again provides the fodder with his *ahem* "unique" ranking system ...

Paul also commits to a BIG challenge if the show can collect enough reviews, while Wayne confirms he will now be watching the whole Godfather trilogy with reviews of the latter two films to follow.

Episode 96: Top 10 Sub-90 Minute Films

In a special bite-sized Episode of The Countdown, Paul and Wayne this week sing the praises of their favourite films that run less than 90 minutes – the idea being these are their recommended quick hits that you can switch on and race through when you’re pushed for time. Only, as per usual, Wayne manages to go off brief and include a couple of films that run 90 minutes or more, arguing that … well, just hit play and enjoy rationalisation at a level you’ve never before heard!

In one of the funniest episodes yet, the boys this week welcome Toffa from the Masterdebaters podcast to assist in naming and shaming the most annoying characters in film! Things get decidedly heartfelt, sweary and salty as everybody lets loose on those individuals who managed to get under their skin and caused their bowels to clench in irritation.

Paul and Wayne also take 15 minutes to review the new xXx film with Vin Diesel cavorting about like someone half his age and Toni Collette managing to look severely unamused throughout proceedings.

Thank Toffa for guesting on the Ep by following him @_masterdebaters and checking out his hilarious show at masterdebaters.podbean.com

Episode 94: The Nicolas Cage Special

The boys this week want you to put ... the bunny ... back ... in the box.

You won’t? Well, Paul thinks you can probably eat a peach for hours, while Wayne wants to know how, in the name of Zeus’ butthole, you got out of your cell?

If one or all of those paraphrased quotes make any sense to you, you're listening to the right Episode of The Countdown, as this week Wayne and Paul focus on the career of Nicolas Cage!

They discuss a wide variety of Cage's films as they countdown his best and worst 5 films, and Wayne even sneaks in a mini-review of a little film from Cage's uncle called The Godfather (1972). There's also time for the guys to countdown their 5 most anticipated films for 2017.

That's right. THREE separate countdowns, TWO surprisingly agreeable hosts, and ONE amazing divisive actor. All this and more as the Countdown continues...

Strap on your throwing knives, sharpen your swords and check those long-range sights, because this week the guys settle into their first major film review of 2017 with the adaptation of the popular game, Assassin's Creed. Is it really as bad as the reviews are making out? Or does Aussie director Justin Kurzel make a better fist of it than the critics would have you believe? (Err, no. No he doesn't.)

That's just a precursor to the main event, though, because Paul and Wayne get into a couple of major disagreements counting their favourite assassin films. Who is correct and who is talking out of their rusty sheriff's badge? Only YOU can decide as The Countdown continues ...

Episode 92: The Top 10 Films of 2016 (w/ John Rocha)

Happy New Year Countdowners! To mark the latest complete orbit of our planet around the sun, the boys this week lured podcaster extraordinaire, talented voice over artist and actor, John Rocha, out of hiatus from the Top 10 show, to assist in ranking this year's best 10 films. John brings a certain level of class and depth to the show which the Countdown sorely needs - as evidenced by the typical crass and disrespectful attitude Wayne and Paul adopt toward each other as they battle for the win in the final segment of Tag Lines for this season.

Then there's the usual Recount, listener nominations for the top films of the year and a brief tribute to the late, great Carrie Fisher.

It is most certainly the biggest episode of the Countdown yet, so please thank John for coming on board by following him on Twitter @TheRochaSays, listening to The Cine-Files @ http://thecine-files.podomatic.com/ or chasing up Super Animation Gametime @ http://geekandsundry.com/
